Larger free access to Spotify

Spotify promotes their free services by diminishing the constraints on free users. From now on these people may access up to 15 updated playlists per day, that represents ± 150 songs or 40 hours of music. Content is customised to the selected genres and artists. A preslection will be made during the first session and will be then refined based on the Spotify-algorihm. This new feature also decreases the data usage when streaming is used on mobile Internet.

"On the go" DOOH

MMD Media launches new digital OOH « On The Go-network » with 450 screens on stations of Esso, Maes and Texaco.  All screens can be accessed via insertion order or programmatic.  Also possible to do adaptive campaigns based on external data (eg weather, traffic,...)  Saleshouse will be On Air media.

Mag Advertising: federating magazines

Since the end of 2017, Mag Advertising consists of the merger  between former sales houses Rossel Advertising, IP Print and Editions L’ Avenir . The portfolio includes 18 magazines -see below- with a  strong crossmedia offer, combining print & digital,  in the North and the South (but stronger there), open to native advertising and providing high brand safety levels.

Mag Advertising reaches with more than 1,4 million copies and almost 4 million contacts, 40% of the French speaking  shoppers.

To reach these different readers Mag Advertising has created different packages (print+web) : TV Mag South, TV Mag 6 Pack+ (North+South), News Mag South, Mag Max (North+South), Men Mag Pack (North+South) and News Mag National (North+South).

Mediahuis & SBS Belgium combine assets

Huge changes are coming for Belgian TV & Online Video landscape. After the merger of Medialaan & De Persgroep last year, SBS and Mediahuis are now partners. The objective : consolidate their market position.

This brand new sales house has two main goals. On one hand, reinforcing online video marketing.  On the other hand, providing advertisers with a strong answer to their cross-media campaign needs thanks to a new strategic department called The Pool.

The Pool will combine the entertainment content of SBS (Vier, Vijf, Zes) and the news style of Mediahuis (De Standaard, Het Nieuwsblad, Gazet van Antwerpen…) to design cross-channel campaigns that may combine TV, press, display and online video.

2017: drop of 4% in magazines circulation

According to CIM Brand Reports, circulation of Belgian magazines decreased in 2017. On average, 4% less copies were distributed, but French-written titles got even worse: -6.5%. Specialized content however seems to better resist while the decrease primarily affects general-interest titles. On a total of 43 tiltes, only 7 of them remained stable or grew their circulation in 2017: Paris-Match, Autogids, Sport/Foot Magazine + Sport/Voetbal Magazine,Plus Magazine (NL+FR), Trends + Trends/Tendances, Top Santé & Humo,
