More Flemish series on Netflix

Netflix generally try to customize their portfolio to the local taste. So is the thrillerserie "13 Geboden" available on the SVOD platform just one year if was broadcast on VTM. It is not the first time local series reach the Netflix catalogue: Code 37 (VTM), Beau Séjour or Eigen Kweek (één) among others may be watched on Netflix too. The platform also coproduced "Undercover" featuring Tom Waes and Anna Drijver.

EC Hockey unites RTBF, VRT and Eleven Sports

The recent success of our Belgian hockey team has increased the audience appeal for this kind of sport on TV. Not only Eleven Sports, that own the TV rights, but also RTBF and VRT will air the matches: Eleven has made an agreement with both the Flemish and the French-speaking public channels to let them broadcast the European Championship (EC) Hockey as well. This is good news for the popularity of this kind of sport  The EC will take place between Aug 16th and Aug 25th. Final matches will be played on Sat 24 for men and Sun 25 for women. Eleven Sports will also livestream every match of the Belgian teams on their Facebook page.

Radioplayer.be is now truly Belgian

The most significant Flemish radio are now available via Radioplayer.be. Until recently only French-speaking stations were available through this online platform that enables users to listen to radio programmes via computers, smartphones or connected devices. Now one may listen to VRT stations (Radio 1, Radio 2, StuBru, Klara and MNM), DPG Media (QMusic and Joe) or Mediahuis (Nostalgie Vlaanderen et NRJ België), or Flemish webradios, such as oe 70’s, MNM Hits or Nostalgie Extra Rock. In total Radioplayer.be gives access to 118 French-speaking and 43 Flemish audio streams. 

Last year, radio listening via Internet represented almost 12% of the total volume in Flanders and 11% in the Southern part of Belgium (adults 12+).

TOPradio @ DPG Media

As from Sep 2, the Flemish radio network TOPradio will join the sales porfolio of DPG Media (leaving IP). TopRadio is a niche player with 1% audience share in the North, and close to 2% on its core target group, under 35 years (CIM RAM Jan-Apr 2019). Its content is focused on dance music.

IP to sell TF1 airtime as of September 2019

In short:

• audience of TF1 is decreasing: in 3 years time, their audience share of shoppers 18-54 has lost 5 percentage points
• age, gender and social status of TF1 viewers are now similar to RTL-TVi
• few incremental reach to RTL
• ad breaks on TF1 are generally twice as long as on the local channels
