Q Music & Joe rely on Waze

Traffic information on the radio stations from Medialaan no longer use information coming from TomTom and from the Vlaams Verkeercentrum. They rely instead on the information provided by the navigation app Waze (Google). They are not the first one doing so: CNN, NBC and Radio France are reported to have been using Waze for a while.

Eleven Sports: extended contracts

Eleven Sports extends cooperation with distributors. But not with Transfer: as of end July, Eleven will no longer be commercialised by Transfer, that used to be their sales house. Next, they have confirmed their cooperation with Proximus until 2021. The agreement with Voo has also been extended to 3 more years, with the addition of a 3rd channel to Voo Sport World. Eleven recently added the Bundesliga rights, the German competition to its package.  

Medialaan-Persgroep: convergent radio initiatives

As of 20/08, Joe (Medialaan-De Persgroep) has launched 2 digital channels: one with music from the 70ies, the other one with 80ies that may be accessed via the App Joe or in DAB+. In parallel with this listeners may guess from which decade comes the music aired during the morning show. 

In October, Q Music will start in October an online video quiz that will enable simultaneous participation of any user(listeners & viewers....) to the game.

CIM Radio Audience Measurement, 2nd wave for 2018

In the North, MNM becomes the 3rd largest station as a result of Studio Brussel losing listeners (daily reach) and time listened to. Nostalgie NL and Klara decrease in penetration. Every radio statiion somewhat loses daily reach compared to the previous research wave, and so does total radio.

As far as the French-speaking part is concerned, the main fact in the last wave is Nostalgie gaining #1 in shares (not in penetration). Nevertheless, the top of the radio in the South consists of 4 stations. At RTBF, La Première and Pure FM somewhat decrease.

NRJ Vlaanderen with sales house VAR

While NRJ FR inventory is managed by RMB, and Nostalgie -in both languages- by IP, NRJ Vlaanderen that is run by Mediahuis and SBS will be commercialised by VAR. It has been long since the sales house of the VRT stations has been active for private interests. To remind NRJ Vlaanderen is about to start after the summer with combination of key city radios. Targetgroup : adults 14-44.  NRJ will have theoretical FM-reach of 65%. See our previous news on NRJ Vlaanderen.
